Assam and Meghalaya – Assamazing Adventures and Meghalicious Delights
Pack your bags, adventure seekers! Let me take you on a wild journey through Northern Sikkim. This isn’t your average vacation where you lounge at a resort sipping Mai Tais. No, no, no. This trip is for those who crave adrenaline, breathtaking views, and a little bit of roughing it.
Our journey began as we touched down at Bagdogra International Airport and were transported to the bustling city of Gangtok. Our first destination was Nathula Pass, and boy, what a sight it was! We stood in awe of the snow-capped mountains surrounding us, and the view of the Indo-China border was nothing short of spectacular. The clear sky was a blessing, and we soaked in the beauty of the pass before we had to move on.
Who needs a roller coaster when you can ride through the scenic beauty of Sikkim? The journey to Lachen was full of twists, turns, and surprises, with views of majestic waterfalls and gushing streams. The chilly weather was no match for the warmth we felt from the grandeur of Singhik, the enchanting Butterfly Falls, and the majestic Seven Sisters Waterfalls. The journey was a feast for the eyes, and we were more than happy to be along for the ride!”
The icing on the cake of our adventurous trip was our pilgrimage to Gurudongmar Lake. Perched at a dizzying altitude of 17,100 ft, this mystical lake is nothing short of a divine spectacle. The breathtaking views will render you speechless, and it’s a sight that will stay etched in your memory forever. The journey to reach there was no walk in the park, with a grueling 3-4 hours drive from Lachen (one way). But hey, nothing worth having comes easy! Along the way, we also visited Thangu Valley and Chopta Valley, which were like a cherry on top.

Our journey took us to Yumthang Valley, aptly called the Garden of Eden, where we frolicked amidst a sea of vibrant flowers. We then soaked our bones in a natural hot spring that was rumored to have healing powers. But the thrill didn’t stop there! We also braved the rapids of a roaring river, soared through the skies on a paraglider, and conquered the heights with a daring ropeway ride in Changu. It was a true test of our mettle, and we emerged victorious with our adrenaline levels off the charts!

Our accommodations on this trip were more than just places to sleep. The Mayfair Spa Resort & Casino in Gangtok was an indulgent retreat in the midst of the urban hubbub. Meanwhile, the Apple Orchard in Lachen was a whole different ballgame. Hanging at an elevation of 8838 feet, the resort harmonized seamlessly with the natural magnificence surrounding it. Its pathways were a charming mosaic of cobblestones, meandering through verdant woods and rocky outcrops. Oh, and did I mention the cherry brandy liqueur? It was so good; it could make a teetotaler turn tipsy!
The Yarlam Resort in Lachung was like finding a treasure chest filled with luxury and simplicity – the perfect combination. The journey to Lachung was a delightful adventure, with streams and waterfalls that seemed to be vying for our attention like a group of overenthusiastic performers.

Sikkim is not your average vacation destination – it’s for those who like their travels with a side of rush and a dash of breathtaking beauty. It’s the kind of trip that leaves you with a thrill in your heart and a camera full of unforgettable moments.
